Our History

Greetings, fellow wizards and car cleaning enthusiasts! Let me share with you the magical story of Casey McKinley and Brian Cook, two Ohio State fraternity brothers who graduated in 1996 and reunited a decade later as business partners in their own car wash business in Charleston, SC.

After college, McKinley was in Tennessee, working in his family marina business when he saw an opportunity to build and operate a Self Serve car wash. Meanwhile, after working many roles in the software industry, Cook was exploring opportunities to become an entrepreneur after relocating to South Carolina in 2004. In 2005, Wash Wizard was born, with Cook focusing on marketing, finance, and technology, while McKinley focused on equipment, chemistry, and operations.

Over the years, they built or remodeled their way from three Self Serve Car Wash facilities to five express exterior locations. In 2018, they made the difficult decision to sell the business to Zips Car Wash so they could focus on creating an all-new, rebranded, and more sophisticated version of Wash Wizard. They now own and operate the all new and improved Wash Wizard Car Washes with their new partner and general manager, Brian Elender, a Citadel graduate, former marine, and current helicopter pilot in the South Carolina National Guard.

When they’re not busy washing cars or flying helicopters, they enjoy spending time with family, watching their respective football teams, fine cigars, live music concerts, and exploring the great outdoors.
